Well we are officially no longer a part of Roehl or any OTR trucking company for that matter. My husband turned his truck in at Gary yesterday and took a greyhound which got him here at 11:30 this morning. On the bus ride home he ran into several ex-CRE's on their way home (like 5 I think). Guess a few of the CRE's are going to put an app in at Roehl now. Sure now he can get sign on bonuses after the fact he's gone lol...
Anyway the departure from Roehl was amicable, he's welcome back if the local job after we move doesn't work out. My husbands intentions to return to OTR are very slim.
We did have some rough times with Roehl pay-wise (low miles/low checks), but there are different divisions you can try if you feel one isn't working out for you, that is if you're able to switch. We found that ultimately northeast Van was the best option for us, the pay was better as was the hometime. His DSR was one that I had seen mentioned before that isn't a favorable one...he was pretty good for us, they didn't always see eye to eye though lol. It does go to show that not everyone is going to click with each other, so individual experiences can and will vary. I will refrain from naming his DSR, some may guess right off the bat given the division others eh, maybe not lol.
There are a lot worse companies out there as there are better, given individual needs, preferences and experiences. Any which way, thank you for sharing your journeys. Good luck to those just beginning and those that are still there.
Best of luck to you! Roehl
