I'm thinking about going to a company that says the pay you to earn your cdl. I have been researching a number of companies . If I had the funds I'd go to an independent school but that's not the case. Are there any trucking companies that I should stay away from and who's the best?

Where is your location and we'll help you.
Would be better if you posted on the "Questions From New Drivers" or "Trucking Schools and CDL Training Forum."
@bullhaulerswife might move it for you.

I can’t understand why of the 100 posts a day looking for help, no one bothers to put their location in their profile.

Yes, we need to know the hiring area the person lives in.

There is no such thing as a good paying cdl program.
Companies put money up front to train you, knowing your going to leave after one year.
This is why the pay is low the first year.
Go to Schneider, after a year,if you chose, try the ic choice program.
Youll nearly starve your first year wherever you go.

Go to a local vocational school or a junior college.

DO NOT GO TO A TRUCKING COMPANY TO GET YOUR CDL!

    Need4Speed and TST65 Thank this.

Maryland....never heard of the place! Joking!!!!!
Here's some decent outfits with their own cdl school:
Jim Palmer Trucking - coast to coast refrigerated.
Wil-Trans - runs eastern half of USA - refrigerated.
Contract Freighters - www.cfidrive.com - coast to coast dry van.
Millis Transfer - runs eastern half of USA - dry van.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) - coast to coast refrigerated.

My thoughts too. However I would state it start looking at these schools first.

Edited to add: I am attempting to track it down. However I heard a CDL school in Texas is now charging almost $8,000. This is a HUGE sum of money especially when you can do this for much less at a Tech school.

Yeah moose, it should be $15,000

Look around to see how many cdl holders can barely put a truck in an open dock or avoid an accident then ask yourself why is it so easy to get a cdl in the first place.
