Have you been in the armpit of the nation aka nj??? That's high taxes 8534.34 to be exact for a whopping 0.107 acres of land and a 1300 sq ft home!!! But honestly in the Northeast there's no state living in.
Best place to live for owner operators!!

Wasn't bad when it didn't get in the 90s until early June and than dropped out of them mid October .
But like that summer we had 2 years ago where it was mid 90s April 1st and we were still in them until December.
It stays a lot hotter and longer just the 100 miles south I am from you.
Did a winter back up in Michigan this year. Holy crap I missed Florida
I'm thinking hardcore trucking all through the summer and enjoying 5 months of winter in Florida .
Though Michigan summers can be beautiful they are very very hit and miss . Mid may up here and we finally seeing a little sun occasionally.
Love Florida beaches, boating And Sun.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
Knoxville, tn
cheap housing, cheap land, cheap to live and no state income state.
you've got Nashville, Louisville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham surrounding you all within about 350 miles and I40, I75 and I81 all right there.
decent weather and not overly populated
can't beat it imo for the whole package -
I would suggest Texas either Houston or Dallas, after that I would agree with @freightwipper and look into Tennessee. I'm looking at moving back to Texas, Washington is not bad, but they have a few to many tree huggers, lol

I live in central Iowa. I generally stay within 500 miles of the house. I live just off I-80 and about 40 miles east of I-35 and am by the house a couple of times a week and off on weekends. State income taxes are not too bad. Housing prices are pretty reasonable. I can buy 3 times the property and home for 1/2 the cost of homes in major metro areas like Chicago burbs. I live rural, so I don't have city stuff to deal with, and my property taxes on 2.25 acres with a 2200 SF ranch style home with two car heated garage with a 60x80 pole barn / shop runs about $1800 a year. And cost for all of that was about $125K 14 years ago when I got it. Valuation according to the county accessor is now at around $135K. Have an additional 40 acres of land that is cash rented out to a local farmer. That was about $3500 an acre. Cost of living is much lower, overall, in Iowa than some of the surrounding states like Illinois and Minnesota, yet dead center of state is cross of I-35 and I-80, so being in major freight lanes, north south east west, is realistic with consistent freight in all directions. As a side note, personal vehicle insurance is generally cheaper than the surrounding states as well. I have a 2015 Chevy 2500 and a 2006 Cadillac CTS at home and under $700 a year for auto insurance. And when it comes to vehicles, no emissions inspections on anything!

Probably south Jersey around Vineland or close to Camden but it's just like south Carolina but with high taxes and getting weapons is as hard as escaping from jail
