Say you are in Knoxville, TN and have delivery in South or North Carolina which was best route in now?
Soo many roads wiped out from the flood including i40 and i26 in Western NC so where to go?

I hope there is better option than detour through Georgia or Virginia.

I haven't been on any of those back roads in years, but I can't imagine they're much better than they used to be. You're pretty much stuck with going to Atlanta and coming back up 85, or up to 77 and back south. There's ways to save miles, but they're all going to cost you time.

The other thing to remember about the back road option is that half the interstate traffic will be using them, so they're going to be congested.

Windy, hilly, and congested is no way to go through life son.

40e to 81n the 77s or 75s to 285e then 85n. Thats what everyone has been doing. But ATL is always congested in the day time. So I would rather go through VA.

if going east of Charlotte, NC, take 81 to Roanoke VA and down 220 to I-40 in Greensboro, NC.

the back roads in the mtns are in places, gone. washed out, washed away.

there's a guy using mule trains to get to some places that helos can't land near

I've been seeing loads going to asheville and surrounding areas. Some brokers saying stuff like "roads are clear" but I don't know about that.
