Best semi route from Chicago to Seattle? I80 or I94

    Best semi route from Chicago to Seattle? I80 or I94 Whats the best route? I drove i80 many times, just wanted to know how are mountains or road conditions on i94 as compared to i80

    You're going across Snoqualmie either way. My recollection of taking I94 was that it was less remarkable than I80 through Wyoming.

    94-90 (shortest) will have more mountain passes than 80-84-90 (125 miles longer). Your weight and how your truck pulls will have the most impact.

    And pretty soon the weather being north or south will have an impact too.

    If I was doing Chi to Sea I would do 94 if I'd be hitting Minneapolis during off hours and the weather was fine. I definitely wouldn't do extra miles to travel the 80. Fourth of July and Lookout pass aren't that bad if there's no chains required.

    It depends on the weather. I-94 has more time crossing Montana, which is pretty good. I-80 crosses Wyoming which is pretty good in spots but very boring for long stretches. I would picked based on weather. I was a company driver I didn't care about fuel costs.
