So i have a broken blend door what's happening is I only have vent air no floor or defrost. Does anyone know how many hours of labor I'm looking at? Local dealer says they haven't done one before but they know it's very labor intensive. Probably close to 15-20 hours and around 4500 as the whole HVAC is going to need replacing as they can't just buy the defrost blend door.
    Anyone else had this issue?

Panel door replacement requires complete dash removal. If its your first time it will most definately take you around the 10 hrs mark for an experienced tech. Average time in my shop is about 6-7 hours complete and we ussualy estimate the job at 8hours.

I have one guy that got the time down to 4 hours, trust me thats haulin ### with no coffee breaks and hes done proly 25 of em'

My local dealer says because the defrost door
Is broken it all has to be replaced. Does that sound about right?

The Panel door or Mode door is the most common to fail. This is the door that changes air flow direction. The other door is the temperature door but doesnt fail as often. The doors are cheap and available seporate from the case. The panel door is the easier of the two to replace. I would fit a new actuator on the new door for good measure to reduce chances for a repeat fail.

I dont have the KW service info but the 579 has the same HVAC setup.

I know for sure the defrost door broke I took the actuator out and the small wheel fell into system. It started with only air out of vents and kept hearing a clicking.

Im not saying your wrong. Just never had DEfrost break before. Double check with parts that its available separately. Should be easy once the dash is out. Last I checked the panel and temp are only available separate.

Be honest I think the defrost door was my fault. I thought the actuator was done moving and guess it wasn't and it moved while I took it out lol.

I think we had a defrost door break on a T880, have to double check but was able to get just the door. Make sure you get your software up to date.

    Goodysnap Thanks this.

Software update that's just on the cab ECM right? Not the truck ECM?
