Many have lost faith in Boeing since the 737 max fiasco.

The 737 MAX fiasco, quality control issues involving the 787 Dreamliners,KC-46 Pegasus (tanker version of the 767) and Boeing’s stubbornness (if not ignorance)to not build a proper replacement for the 757 are all contributing to Boeing’s woes. It’s like the company has been taken over by beancounters and all the engineers have left.

Airbus has issues of its own as well. The last A380 was just built after sales for the superjumbo flopped(and this was before the pandemic) plus customers are complaining about paint issues on the A350(paint is peeling off in specific areas).

Airbus Helicopters Inc., the U.S. affiliate, opened its main facilities in 1969 in Grand Prairie, Texas. It also operates a production line in Columbus, Mississippi. Airbus Helicopters products are the U.S. market leaders for air medical transport, law enforcement, airborne tourism, and in the corporate and VIP segment.

They also have an assembly line in Tianjin,China!
Airbus started building them here in the US after Boeing complained about Delta’s order for the planes! Boeing thought Delta wasn’t paying enough for them and cried foul over subsidies!

We booked an Australian vacation in Nov of 19 for April of 2020, dirt cheap because Qantas was having a celebration of 100 years in the biz, fly out on a A380 and return on a 787, as a bit of a plane buff I was in high heaven, just the flights alone were going to be so cool to me. The pandemic wiped it out. Good thing I purchased the trip insurance at the time of booking, having no idea what was about to happen, the little that the trip did cost was reimbursed. I'm waiting for things to really calm down before I fly again.
