As you can see the head is gone off the bolt... All that compound/gunk is from the factory.

Any ideas on how I can secure the negative wire to the alternator tomorrow morning if it pops off?

About 60 miles away from parts store...

Drill it out if you carry that stuff then slap a bolt through it (mudflap bolts are good to rob sometimes if ling enough

If theres enough slack, could put negative wire under the mounting bolt head if you can get to it

Didn't think of that, it'll definitely reach the top right mounting bolt.

Alternator's frame should be grounded through the mounting pads to the engine. In theory you should be able to attach that ground to the engine and be ok. That all depends on if there's corrosion or paint acting as an insulator of course.
