Now that Boomtown has eliminated the truck parking, where are all the truckers going to park when they shut down I-80 during the winter? That place is always packed during the wintertime. They never opened up the truck stopped that they had planned between Reno and Boomtown.

WHAT??? When did they do this?? I haven't been past there for quite a while... man, that stinks!! They used to be one of the better places to stop in that area...

I bet they figured they could make more money off of the four-wheeler traffic... :biggrin_25513:

I just came back from R&R in the states and one of the things we did was rent a car and drive around the west coast and i stopped in Boomtown only to see the old truck stop gone and a new Cabbela's being built in its place. I talked to several people in the casino and they said it was news to them even they just up and shut it down and are planning a new one in a year or two but until then it's Siera Sid's or nothing.

When I lived in Tahoe, I always said I wanted to buy a chunk of I-80 desert east of Fernley & throw a TS on it.

Maybe now would be a good time to do it.

It will cost a heck of a lot more now. That area is so built up now. Many, many major warehouses are there now. The whole area between Fernley and Fallon now is really getting crowded.

this is a sore subject with me. That place started as a truck stop and for years they have been pushing us out. A few years back I tried to park my bobtail by the casino and go in. I made it all of about twenty feet before security ushered me back to my truck. there was nobody around, I parked in the back and my bobtail only took two spots.
This week I stoped and found the ts gone. I parked my bobtail in the mini mart lot as I was having some stomach isues!!! lol. THis time I managed to make it about thirty feet but then I had TWO security vehicles pull up from opposite directions and try to usher me out. Which I responded by telling the fine man that if I didn't get in that store in 30 seconds I would paint the hood of his truck for him (only I used slightly more colorful language)
so this leads me to belive we have gone from there target clientele to public enemy number one

We're not public enemies #1, we've just outlived our usefulness as viable customers & fortune builders.

There's no truckstops anymore; Just travel centers.

It's our own fault. You have a media dead set against anything trucking because it sells newsprint & airtime. We have our own "weakest links" doing everything they can to sabotage what little good image we retain. Put the two together & you have an insurmountable wall of bad public image.

Still, it's ###### disheartening to see truckers being thrown out in the cold. We're the bulk of the reason that these companies began & prospered.

How easily these "big time" operaters forget from whence they came.

There's plenty of other casinos in Nv that would love to have your money flowing thru them.

    Mooch Thanks this.

Yeah, but Boomtown was certainly the most convenient. You certainly don't want to touch downtown, nor head out 395. It has been sad seeing the trucks pile up on the side of the freeway in front of Boomtown these last few months.
