Here’s an example: I pull a pneumatic and we’re food grade outbound and feed ingredients back. Our pay isn’t out of this world but it’s consistent. You can count on it every week. There are a few company trucks but I’d say 75% owner operator. Of that 75% I’d say easily half don’t have savings of any kind. They can’t hardly go a week without their check. But they have the toys and the pickups and everything else they can “afford” because of their job. I’m going on week 4 of my truck being parked, not because of lack of work but because I have a remodeling project and a few other things that need attention. I’m not going back to work until June and I hear it from my coworkers. “Must be nice to just take time off”. Yes, it is. And they could take time off too if they didn’t have $7k worth of payments every month. Unfortunately that’s the truth with our society these days, the more they make the more they spend.

So don’t come on here acting like if these evil brokers were regulated and they had to show their pay to the trucker that the trucker would be any better off than they are now. They may get more money but you know dang well that there would still be plenty running their truck on a shoestring, one breakdown away from being out of business, because they’d just spend their newfound extra money.

Many people can’t be taught to save money, that’s something that hard knocks has to teach them. I wish I would’ve learned earlier in my life, but I had to realize on my own that having a bunch of debt isn’t the best idea.

Seems like it takes the average person till about 50 to learn that idea. I know a guy who's about 60, in debt up to his ears, and still spends money like water on dumb ####.

Thankfully I was only 39 or so when I learned. Lol. But yeah, we all know people like that. One guy I work with just financed a big diesel pickup for his kid and I quote “the payments aren’t all that bad. I stretched it out for 7 years”. So there’s nobody that will convince me that just because someone makes more money they will be any better off. They’ll just have more and better toys.

Exactly, which is why a lot will keep running when rates are in the tank.

When all you can see are things, that a bank owns but you think are yours, logical thinking is almost impossible. Most only have one actual asset, the truck, but they will run it into the ground and destroy it trying to hold onto their liabilities.

Exactly, people not having giant payments they have to make every month would do more for rates than this "transparency" bull ever would.

If you base your reason for no regulation on a few bad truckers than it is fair to OVER regulate due to a few bad brokers.

You are only making 2.5% net profit? That seems awful low? Or was that a typo or maybe I misunderstood?

Yeah. I’ve sent stuff via UPS and I got charged an arm and a leg. I’m pretty sure you guys are laughing your #### at me too. I think the government should step in and regulate you guys. The government should limit how much money your company can steal from hard working Americans.

Not stealing just using the current system to their advantage just like brokers. But wait, UPS is regulated.

The current system allows brokers to operate in the dark. Some think this means they should behave like ####roaches.

Read the comments and you'll see even here on this forum some brokers have a low opinion of truckers.

Let the light of regulation shine and watch the ####roaches flee.

If you read there are clearly drivers here have a low opinion of brokers, do you want opinions regulated too or what? I don't give a rats fuzzy ### if the broker has a low opinion of me, I aint after their opinion, or anyone else's for that matter.
Regulation is not a shining light, more like a polished turd.
