Anyone else notice this? Brokers are posting loads that they know cannot be ran in time. The only way they can be delivered on time with hard must be delivered on time loads is if you violate your HOS. I’m a company driver, was assigned an impossible load from AZ to Oregon. 803 miles 23 hours from load to delivery time. Called broker , broker tells me “well you can go over your hours if you’re hauling reefer” called my dispatch and they told me I can’t do that. Load was pulled and given to another company willing to violate HOS.
Just because we haul food products doesn’t automatically exempt us from the laws. Some of these brokers are going to be facing lawsuits over this. What idiots!
Brokers sinking to new lows?....

well I am guessing the broker just is assuming. The carrier that took it will have to explain it later if it wasn't an "essential" load.

Where was the load going? What was the product? Have you read the list of everything that is exempt? Chances are it was exempt seeing as how they’ve broadened it so far as to include packaging and raw materials used for food products.
wore out and Deere hunter Thank this. -

Sounds like food to me. If I’m exempt hauling food grade salt in a pneumatic I don’t see why that load wouldn’t be exempt.

I'll leave it up to you to figure it out... -
Wasted Thyme and Scooter Jones Thank this.

2. The driver could of run the load as far as he could of and the company could of swapped the load out with another driver who had enough hours to continue and finish the run
3. The load could of been dispatched to a team.
The assumption that another company took it who was willing to "violate the HOS" wasn't well thought out. That's okay though, I do that myself from time to timeRuthless, Canadianhauler21, Coffey and 9 others Thank this. -
803 miles in 9/1/2 hours.
You would have to average 84 miles an hour.
Nobody is doing that. Not even super trucker.
