Few times now ive heard of guys "getting around" ELD by "flashing the ecm" to a pre-99. I understand that their loading a pre-ELD e-prom into the computer and when hooked to a datalink the idea is for an old build date to pop up on a screen but seriously, does this satisfy the dotgov? I mean i know lots of guys just getting away with paper logs in classic trucks that are early 2000s but i know its not legal.
Please school me. What are the stickler states checking for whether you have a "glider" or not. And no i dont give a dang what california has to say about a anything, i will never go there.
BS or not?
