Anyone ever used these style nuts
I am thinking about using them on the steer axle so the regular nuts don’t trash my new aluminum rims
Budd nuts

Maybe @SmallPackage has some info.
W923 and SmallPackage Thank this. -
It'll take decades before it ruins the wheel but the pits made from corrosion can be sanded/polished out if it bothers you too much.
W923 Thanks this. -
Never seen those before. I know some makes like ford used a similar looking one for front wheels but it had a collar that went down in the wheel hole. That was because ford used the same smaller dia studs on front as the rear. Being a two piece I’d be worried the ball seat would get stuck in the seat of the wheel when nut is removed. Being thicker then the standard nut you may need longer studs since most studs just barely stick out a thread or two. Like you I do think it may be a good thing to give a try. They may be good to use.

Also just a thought. Being two piece like the new hub pilot wheel nuts Torque may need to checked more often then standard nuts. I assume with the “R” in the part # they have an “L” for lefty threads as well.

Somewhere else that has them list them as one piece….id prefer 2 for the purpose of preserving the rims but still probably better than the regular nutsOxbow and SmallPackage Thank this. -
They’re for the old ball seat wheels not modern pilot onesOxbow, Bean Jr., beastr123 and 1 other person Thank this.
