How are floor/bulk loaded produce loads off-loaded from a van?

I hauled potatoes once, loaded with a conveyor. Off loaded using a bobcat with a bucket.

    Oldironfan and DSK333 Thank this.

Depends on what kind of produce, have seen where tractor is unhooked on a big tipping platform and raised and emptied.

    Rideandrepair and Oldironfan Thank this.

Various unloading methods but almost everyone leaves a big mess in your trailer . Plan on extra costs washing out once empty

Rideandrepair, Oldironfan and DSK333 Thank this.

    Tipper for some
Water cannon and slight downgrade backwards that leads to a pool for others.
Bobcat with big scoop on the front
For spuds they have a special machine that drives in with 3 conveyors on the front, 2 feeding to the centre and middle one feeds backwards to a conveyor belt that takes them back and away

Did pumpkins recently and they were loaded by hand on conveyor and off loaded by a large group of ppl . It was actually faster unloading by hand than unloading at Sysco by forklift with a dock , sad .

Frito Lay uses a big dumper. And does not washout any more.
You get left with a lot of taters stuck in the grooves.
And check before you pull off, you may have 500 pounds of spuds at the back door that did not fall off. Now you get to push or kick them off.

You could feed a lot of hungry homeless people with all the potatoes left in trailers from frito lay.

I haven’t seen too much in the way of leftovers from our tipper. A 45 degree angle has a way of cleaning out anything that isn’t bolted down. Of course, I don’t know about our random inbound loads. The dedicated carriers use custom trailers built for bulk floor loading, not repurposed reefers. Maybe I’ll see a random spud or two rolling around the parking lot, but it’s nowhere near pounds of leftovers.

Disclaimer: I work at Frito Lay. However, I do not run the tipper or work in potato receiving.

Bob Evans will lift your truck like a grain wagon up in the air . Potatoes drop down a shoot
