Howdy all,
I have a Detroit S60 14L in my Columbia. It is burning coolant. After I shut it off to fuel, it blows white smoke for a couple of seconds. I am losing coolant, but no leaks and the hoses are new.
I checked the oil, no water in it.
Where could coolant be making its way to the exhaust without going through the engine?
Thanks much!
Burning coolant, but it isn't in the oil

EGR cooler internal leak. Have it tested.

Agree, I would check the EGR cooler first.

Thanks much! I'll give it a whirl after I'm empty tomorrow. I don't want to push my luck under load...

Update. I'm so ashamed...
After having the dealer order me a new EGR cooler and bringing it in, I have a verdict.
It was a loose hose clamp. Tightened it up, no codes, all is well. Geez.Rideandrepair and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
Update to the update: Kick in the pants time. Turns out, I need a new VGT turbo. This will also mean an intake manifold, due to rusted bolts. FML.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
