    Not for that junk.

When the time is right. I have to [want to] get my house in order before I seriously consider expansion. Plus I am content right where I'm at currently....so I'm not really pushing the idea very hard in my mind.

I was wondering if market conditions change, are we suppose to charge a different rate to our regular customers?

I have a regular who gives loads to Montreal and even though out bound is heavy and inbound very low, the rate I am charging here are the same.

    I. e $800 to Montreal preloaded on her trailer

I'm completely new to brokering, the company I'm working for started me off as a dispatcher for about 2 months then moved me to brokering and I've been working as a broker for about 3 weeks now. I must've cold called about 400 potential customers by now but I average about 4 a week who are willing to put us in their systems and reach out for quotes. That's the easy part but I'm having trouble with understanding alot of the basics, even terminology.
I went from dispatching sprinter vans on expedited loads and updating customers to working with semis and actual trucking lanes. I'll be honest I've been struggling to balance my work load, and I have yet to produce a profit. do you guys have any advice for someone starting out completely fresh? I have all the tools at my disposal, but I need to start making money. I'm trying to cram as much learning into everyday while trying to source customers and quote loads without looking like an idiot lol

When you are quoting loads, you want to know the size of the trucking company you're working with. Smaller companies will need a little extra monies in order to cover their operating expenses. You want to give the carrier what they need to stay profitable while keeping the shipper satisfied with customer service. Once you understand the operating costs of your carriers you'll start to see the room you have for profits between what the shipper pays you and what you pay your carrier.

If you've only called 400 potential customers in two months, you need to step up your call game.

These forums provide a wealth of information on the rest of the technical details. Plenty of research to be done here.

Seriously that's like 4 days worth of prospecting... And it's probably going to take you 3-6 months to get to 3k a week in brokerage worth of customers at 100 calls a day if you're actually good at your job.

    PPNLE and spyder7723 Thank this.

    Update:
My other second truck has been parked. First, there were some mechanical issue which could not be resolved and the day they fixed the issue, my father had a surgery which did not go that great and he is still recovering.

Trying to grow but it isnt easy out there. Perhaps, it could be that I am not getting out of my comfort zone and heading into U.S again. My Montreal lady has kept me busy with a mix of Ottawa rounders and Montreal power only loads. One thing I realized with using someone elses trailers is you cannot trust them fully. I had a few bad trailers which I had to pull. Sometimes, whenn I rely on this lady for a load and she does not have one. At this point it gets too late and I sit at home.

Really want to expand this but it wont be until 2019 post snow.
