Buying a repo

Well I can tell you that after buying a truck from a dealer that bought it from a repo auction and then immediately having to do a full inframe before putting it on the road you are absolutely on the right track to be leary!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying don't buy a repo, but am saying CHECK IT OUT REAL WELL. Do a dyno, and have a good shop check it out well before hand. You do not want that $16,ooo truck to become $32,000 before you even put it on the road.

 

Paying for your own ECM and dyno would be a few hundred. BUT if you really like this truck start with a very thorough pre trip. If upon completion of that you are still interested hopefully you have a mechanic that will do an inspection for you where ever the truck is located. If that turns out OK try doing an oil sample analysis, those are pretty cheap. IF you reach this point still liking what you see, spending a couple hundred for your own ECM check and dyno is pretty cheap insurance. If the seller won't go this route......... WALK! You don't want that possible headache.

 

If they won't allow you to have an "independent" inspection I would pass on the deal. They could be trying to hide some thing. Keep an eye on the truck papers, you'll find some thing else that you can be sure about.
