I ran across a 8 Mack ch613 with a big bunk and under 500k on it but it's a repo unit. It's only $16500. It looks to be in good shape. But I'm leary of the repo status. I figure if he couldn't pay his payents he may not have been able to pay for maintenance. Although it appears in good repair and has real decent virgin tires and not caps. That kinda leans twords someone who took care of the truck.
Anyone have any ideas or thoughts about a truck with this kind of status? Any experiences? Lets hear it

Well I can tell you that after buying a truck from a dealer that bought it from a repo auction and then immediately having to do a full inframe before putting it on the road you are absolutely on the right track to be leary!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not saying don't buy a repo, but am saying CHECK IT OUT REAL WELL. Do a dyno, and have a good shop check it out well before hand. You do not want that $16,ooo truck to become $32,000 before you even put it on the road. -
Ya that is what I'm figuring. Plus they won't even have the ecm milage checked much less an oil analysis done. So if I want anything I'l have to pay to get it. And I know 0 about macks. It is a nice looking truck though

Paying for your own ECM and dyno would be a few hundred. BUT if you really like this truck start with a very thorough pre trip. If upon completion of that you are still interested hopefully you have a mechanic that will do an inspection for you where ever the truck is located. If that turns out OK try doing an oil sample analysis, those are pretty cheap. IF you reach this point still liking what you see, spending a couple hundred for your own ECM check and dyno is pretty cheap insurance. If the seller won't go this route......... WALK! You don't want that possible headache. -
They told me the truck is at a dealer in Mobile AL. They said I could pay them to have it inspected but they would not let it leave the property without payment. Don't know if I trust using the dealer they work with.

If they won't allow you to have an "independent" inspection I would pass on the deal. They could be trying to hide some thing. Keep an eye on the truck papers, you'll find some thing else that you can be sure about. -
I'm probably passing.
I could have an independant inspection as long as they go there to inspect it I guess. It' just not on the up and up I don't think
