Run away. Avoid all 2008-2010. Better try to find 1998-2003 truck for $10k-15k. Put another 10-15 in it and you will be good to go. That 2010 will make you go bankrupt

It maybe just a seal, or a whole engine rebuild. Don't buy anything without having an experienced mechanic taking a look at it first.

    ChaoSS and Lepton1 Thank this.

    NO it isn't alright.

    I would not buy it.

I would think that you need to learn a bit more about buying a truck, it is not like buying a car.

You should be asking what could be the issues, not if this issue is serious.

IF I had to do a ream main, I would assume that the clutch and pressure plate would need to be replaced, so that means I would also have a new throw out bearing and input shaft bearing put in.

So the other thing you need to learn is that you need to do a process in checking out a truck the right way. That is have a dyno test done, have a blowby done at the same time and do a few other things that will show you what is what on the truck.

Rawze has videos on rebuilding his Cummins. You learn a lot from his videos on the new emission engine

Head gasket gone on an ISX? And with that kind of mileage you could be getting in to a whole can of worms if it hasn't had any recent work. The leak between engine and transmission could be 1 of 2 things. Rear crank seal or transmission input. Either way the transmission would have to come out. Never laid a wrench on a Volvo but I'm guessing that you'd be looking at around 8-12 hours just to do the rear crank seal. I've never pulled an ISX head before but from what I've read on here, it sounds very labour intensive. Then if the cams are shot when you open it up you're in for even for $$$.
