Yea, the puff limiter was a Mack term. All the other manufacturers also did stuff though to limit the black smoke. About all they did was limit the black smoke when you mashed the peddle.

    Rideandrepair and Brettj3876 Thank this.

Electronics were in the 60 series, n14, E-7 even tho you could still get a fully mechanical. Pretty sure the 3406E was fly by wire

92 93 3406 c had “ peec” electronics maybe 94 up in till the E model I believe. Not very poplar though. I had a 425C peec motor. Basically drive by wire and cruise. Diesel cooled ecm mounted on huge mechanical fuel pump. Big flop. $2200 fuel pump rebuild in 2000. 435 E was a great motor good on fuel aside from early bad cam lobes problem covered by warranty.A friend put 1.5 mil b4 OH on one in a 1996 WS

Roger Penske stole Cats Top engineer and left them fumbling from scratch. Law suit settled for millions in late 90s, after selling a million or so Series 60s

I took the dash apart in my 84 9670 and was surprised to see that the gauges were attached to a circuit board. I really was expecting to see simple gauges connected via air tubes and single wires..lol
