The company truck I've been driving for the past couple years is a 2015 freightliner cascadia with a sleeper and automatic transmission. It has 295,000 miles.
I'm thinking about buying my own truck in the next year or two. A shop tech told me they usually sell them around 400,000 miles.
Are big trucking companies usually ok with company drivers buying a used truck from them when they get ready to sell it?
How much would a 2015 freightliner cascadia with sleeper, automatic transmission, and 400,000 miles be worth?
This is new to me.
Buying used truck from my company?

I usualy see them for 60k.
Better to buy new, have a warranty, for 5 years.
Higher payment yes, but youll easily spend 60k in 5 years on rebuilding stuff anyhow.rabbiporkchop and Jdm5jdm5 Thank this. -
If you have driven since new, you know how reliable it is and how well it was maintained. I think that is a plus. You could buy a brand new lemon.

Just about every truck on the used lot is just under 500k mileage.
Id love to see a guy get another 500k with no rebuilds but...what are the chances?Jdm5jdm5 Thanks this. -
Id prefer to buy new and run only when freight is paying well.
Im definately not hauling cheap freight with a sky high payment.Jdm5jdm5 Thanks this. -

What would you offer for a used company truck around 400,000 miles? Are they usually willing to negotiate? What could you realistically probably get it for? -

I wouldn't touch it unless it's a company that takes very good care of the equipment..most don't..
Or if you have had it since brand new.Toomanybikes, Lepton1 and Jdm5jdm5 Thank this.
