I agree it's better safe than sorry, but Kidde is a trusted brand in the industry. OSHA says 50ppm for an eight hour workday. CDC says that a 1-hour exposure to 1,000 to 1,200 ppm would cause unpleasant but no dangerous symptoms. Here's some info from the CDC: "Each year, more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning not linked to fires, more than 20,000 visit the emergency room, and more than 4,000 are hospitalized." People do die in their trucks though, and could have been saved for twenty or thirty bucks spent on a CO detector.
Thank you every who responded. Using a Wal-Mart arm thingy. My blood pressure is normal. But my dot is in a couple weeks ill have the doctor check it. As far as deaths go, when I lived in va. Either martinsville va or fair field va. A boyfriend/ girlfriend home repair couple died. They where running a generator under the porch so they could plug a heater in. I think this was 2010 or 11. But out side of that I only know people who have gotten sick but have not perished. The wife suggested to stop bunching the pillow behind my head and get out and move. So I ended up getting a new wall mart pillow. And haven't had another headache. This thread is not in vain thou. I will be getting a co detector. Gonna order it Monday and pick it up next time I'm home. It's really great to see and read all the responses. I just wanted to thank y'all for them. Because I could only find the bigger ones. Like home smoke alarms. Plus I new nothing about the ppm. No I do Be safe drivers. Ill load a picture when it comes in.
Are you supposed to mount CO detectors high or low. I believe co is heavier than air so mounted low would be correct. Or am I wrong
you need one made for an RV they run on 12 volt those from wal mart don't operate in the temperature range needed for a semi truck or RV check amazon for RV co detector
Slightly lighter than air, the industrial meters cost more, but read more quickly, and read lower concentrations.
It doesn't have to kill you to be harmful though. It can cause you to feel ill. And small amounts over time can cause cognitive damage.
