CA administrative ticket "out of truck route"

I was ticketed there once long ago for the same reasons. Second time they couldn't issue a ticket cuz I was at my delivery address. Generally if the signs say "Truck Route", that's the way you should be going. I would not rely too much on GPS but it's a good tool I guess. Having said that, I am not familiar with the trucker GPS's they have now days.

 

No points or record on your license I would just pay it and consider it a tax.

Only way I would consider contesting it would be if there was no other route to your destination. We have a regular customer where the only road going to their facility is clearly marked "weight restricted/no trucks". You bet I would be fighting if I got cited driving on it.

This is one of those annoying "ignorance of the law" issues.
In most jurisdictions it doesn't have to be marked as a truck route with signage. It just has be be designated as one back at city (or county) hall.
Almost all counties have a truck route map on their website, if they even. Even if they don't, they have maps at the road commission and we are just supost to know what is and isn't a truck route.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

 

sure, you can NOT PAY, then find out later at maybe another traffic stop or a scalehouse, that your CDL was suspended for non-payment

You answered yuour own crying complaint, Your not smart enough to follow a posted truck route, then cry when yopu get caught. Next time you will follow the posted route. Pull your head out of your backside and follow directions.
