Bambino, if you have the internet on your phone, or a laptop, you could always cross reference the GPS directions with an aerial view of the location of the delivery via Bing or Google maps. I used to do that as it gives you an idea of what landmarks to look for as you are getting close to your destination.

Hello Calex drivers, I have been reading all the info on here and it sounds like you guys have found a great company. I live in Pa. and Calex seems to be a company I would like to drive for, I will put out there what I am looking for and maybe you drivers can tell me if this would be a match. I dont want to be "held" to a specific area, I am looking to run the country and stretch my legs but not be left out for three or four weeks. I used to do the coast to coast thing but that seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur and I have always said if I could find a company that would run me like that again they would be stuck with me till I die. Then how much NYC or Long Island does Calex do, do they service the same customers pretty much all the time or is it a roll of the dice?? Thanks drivers and stay safe.

Calex's version of coast to coast is usually a load out of one of their regular customers in PA going to Nevada or California. Then you take a mandatory reset before reloading produce to usually one of two customers in either Pottsville or Milton. I don't think the coast drivers do much if any NYC. You will be gone an average of 12-14 days on the coast turns with the reset.

As for being held to a certain area, the lanes are kind of "dedicated" so you'll basically be running east-west on either I-40, I-70, or I-80. Produce from CA can come from Salinas, the Central Valley along CA-99, or down near the Coachella area and Yuma AZ depending on the season.

I wonder if I could talk them into hiring me and letting me do load swaps with someone in the middle and then we could both have better home time. I live right off of the 99 in Cali.

Bumper, you can try....I live in Sacramento, which is where they like to hire out of(CALEX)....WHEN THEY HIRE, I called last week, and was told they are not hiring right now, out of CA....but it could change with the freight seasons later on.
I have a guy who wants me to run his Kenworth, from Salina CA. to NEW JERSEY, every two weeks.............two weeks out, 3 off, reset in NY,NJ,PA.
I am not sure if it is good pay or not, but it is $1900.00 for the roundtrip, paid to driver, plus any other pay like unloading(20.00?)multiple stops, etc. Is that good pay for this roundtrip? I am not crazy about pulling a reefer, and the headaches of those warehouses, and lumper bull....,but it is a job...........my problem is I do not have 6 months experience in the last 12 months, which seems to be the new norm, for insurance companies, and big companies.........I can at least get six months of driving experience here, and who knows, maybe by some miracle, I will enjoy it! He is signed on with a company, as a O/O......company name will remain private until I get permission to divulge it.

Well. I found out today that I am welcome to return to Calex, and am just now finishing up my new application for employment. If all goes well, I should be returning to the ranks in about 2 weeks after I am formally re-hired and can give proper notice to my current employer. I can't wait!

Thanks! I'm scheduled for the drug screen on Tuesday, and should be back in a truck the week of the 17th. I'm so looking forward to getting back out there.
