I have a European class A, used to drive air freight in Lax. I need to get my cdl in California. Anywhere I can rent a truck or are there companies that will sign you off for company road test which they still allow in CA, or anyone companies willing to bring someone on that has experience but needs to take test. In the socal area
California class A
If you are not a citizen here on a work visa, you will have a CDL 1 year. and then that's it.
If you intend to immigrate and make a future here in the USA you would have to change everything over. Your European CDL would be surrendered.
But right now the way things are bad, don't come here. Things are really bad this year. Even if you did get here you are probably going to end up sitting at home under lockdown like all the rest. Currently Europe cannot fly here. Until I think 30 April.
After that whatever date extended and you finally try to come here? DO NOT whatever you do have any symptoms and especially fever. If you are caught at one of 13 designated airports for inbound from overseas, you will be held in a box for 14 days right there.
Its bad and getting grostesque by the day. We expect approximately 2 million or more infected, 100,000 dead by May 1. We already have 200,000 infected up from 80,000 last week. And 4200 or so dead. and thats just the ones who were tested. It is totally unknown who is normal and still infectious which is why interstate travel is being banned for the first time in our history (Those of us who are not truckers...) and various lock downs and closing everything is going into effect everywhere.
Even if you did come here, nothing will be open. Stay where you are. You will enjoy life more.
In a few hours our markets open in NYC. I expect about 7 million unemployed filings pending. Our state is already 35,000 out of work. Some cannot successfully file. Until we get to full weekends and total 24/7 online without crashing. We probably will count 50,000 plus this week.
That does not count the coming crash by May 1 of the housing. There are about 80 Billion due in rent today. Forget May 1 you might not have any place to rent at all. They would go out of business.
And the banking system in the USA? Approximately 200 billion has been drained from them by about roughly 400 companies here in the USA trying to max out their corporate credit cards. Before the banks go out of business. Before they themselves run out of money in a couple of months and go ou of existance. The courts can fight over the bankrupcy creditors later this year when they too finally open again.
and the final goodie?
Let's say you came here today? There is no DMV to license you for big rigs. You will sit potentially months waiting for them to open and begin testing again. Some of our truckers are running without renewed CDL's (Expired) and without DOT Medical (Expired) for now.
Doctors for DOT MEdical? Good luck. 6 of my doctors and 3 of my dentists plus two or three more specailists have closed just this week. I have 4 doctors left. Plus the ER who do not want to see me or anyone. They are maxed out. I expect later this month to lose all 4. I have a appt with one in May for medicine, and frankly there is none expected after 1 may anyway where i am. So forget that. If there is a problem the ER or Field Hospitals being built or evaluated to be built by the US Army medical division is going to be what takes care of my boo boo.
I actually have two surgeries pending, thats been scratched. If there is a repeat of the previous life threatening problems then Trauma butchers will install the necessary parts after they chop out the dead sections of my body later this year.Last edited: Apr 2, 2020
Freight from china has zero'ed. Ports are down 20% Some of our shops here cannot get non essential stuff anymore from China by sea to the West Coast so they are closing up here in Arkansas shortly. Rationing has begun as our distributors in Oregon and others under shutdown orders have closed up their work places and went home. Lights out locked up no workers, no business no trucking. Nothing. And thats just the domestic. Not including the Imports which are essentially zero from what I see here.
Even if you came here there would be nothing except food related trucking and maybe that new I-11 project in Arizona going to Canada. Consider that. You would be working about several years building a 1500 mile highway like those that built our pipelines. Im tempted myself.
California recently passed the AB5 law a few months ago. That destroyed a section of their trucking industry, most of those who have taken all their trucks and moved to say Oklahoma to continue trucking has done so.
