After 40+ years of mainly open deck driving I'm training to be a fuel hauler. I'm being told that Cali HOS are 10 and 14, but I can't seem to support this anywhere with a Google search. Can anyone point me to a link that will confirm this. Thanks in advance.

HOS today is 11 driving and 14 total availible before you need sleeper berth.

In the middle of that 11 hours driving makes a 30 minute mandatory waste your time break. Combined with a pretrip and post trip you might as well make it a 10 hour day, leaving 1 extra to find legal parking.

Most people get into trouble at 5 minutes prior to expiration of 11th hour driving and find themselves 50 miles from anything as far as parking.

So Intrastate California Hazmat (Fuel) haulers are on an 11 & 14 hour clock, not the 12 & 16 hour one that regular California intrastate drivers are on? Can you show me a link to anything that will confirm this?

    Thanks in advance

Yeah, follow the Federal guidelines for HazMat HOS. That's what we do on our intrastate fuel hauls and it seems to be okay with everybody.

    Thanks for the reply-

My problem is that I'm being told that Cali HOS is 10 and 14 for fuel haulers, but nobody can find it in writing, and I suspect it might be wrong. Our Peoplenet elogs are programmed for 12 & 16 FWIW.

Can you point me to any web link or publication that will give me a definitive guideline?

    Thanks again.
