    Never going to happen. There is some big money in those Oakland hills. That money almost stopped the freeway from being built in the first place and the only thing that made it happen was the agreement that trucks would not be allowed to run past the Grand Ave exit. And that money was instrumental in getting the Legislature to codify it into law.

    The reason they are doing the study is the poor people in Oakland are complaining it's effecting their health because they get ALL the truck traffic on I880. If they would open I580, that would split the truck traffic, spreading the toxic fumes to the rich folk.
