Hi everyone. I want to go subcontract with a water hauling company. Does anyone know if my 92 Volvo can be enough to make it up all the terrain it has a Cummins engine.

I was told it would be good for a farm truck or local. I got a 130 barrel tanker I will be using. How much horsepower do I need because I'm going to get the engine a diagnosis at the truck shop it's gonna cost me 100$ .

    Any advice is appreciated thanks.

There should be a engine plate on there that tells you what it is.

All terrain is a misnomer, SOME terrain could be run, but eventually something steep enough will stall a big truck.

Engines in those days probably topped out at 450 and that was big money back then. 350 and 400 or so was the most common. But that's not the full story. You also have a torque rating. And rears, and transmission etc.

If it is the engine Im thinking of, you will get around eventually. Sometime. It's not awful "Fast" if that is what you have in mind.

Here in OK the terrain is pretty flat and you don't need any super high hp to haul that tanker. That detroit should be good. I'm looking to do the same and I've been looking at many trucks with the same motor.

Just start saving up for your vac pump, that'll cost ya.

    Google says that's 5460 gallons. I"m guessing you'll be 80k pounds. I haul 7000 gallons which puts me 97k+.

Depends on your HP and terrain.

judging by the 'hoopdies' out here in west texas, anything with a 5th wheel is yanking a water trailer these days.
heck, they never seem to go over 58mph on the state highways, and hardly 65 on the interstates, wobbley fenders, baling wire, duct tape, light dangling on a wire, etc,,,,,,,,
