So I got this idea to put a flag over my grill on my truck and wanted to know if this a bad idea or not as far as the operation of the truck? Btw I do know the main reason for covering for winter. I just wanted do this for personalization reasons.

I would tend to think it would interfere with the airflow needed to properly cool your engine. They have those partial covers on the rigs that run often in extreme cold because too much of that really frigid air would create problems keeping everything warm enough. So, restricting the frigid air flow, under those conditions, is beneficial. But, under 'normal' conditions, probably not a good idea to restrict air flow through the grill.
    My 2 cents at least.

Try it and see. If you watch the coolant temp gauge you could stop and remove the flag if you noticed higher temps.

Need to have airflow. Unless it was a bug screen with a pattern on it I wouldn't do it.

Is the flag going to have shark teeth that appear to be trying to eat the car in front of you?:D

I see no issue! Just keep an eye on that temp gauge especially when you are pulling a grade! As many have already said! You have to have air flow!
