I run a lot of Midwest and within a year we might move to New York City. My soon to be wife is from there and wants to move back.

I don’t drive in the northeast. Not for a million dollars do those people deserve anything delivered to them.

I’m considering storing my truck in Chicago or somewhere around the area and taking a flight home for when I go home. I know I can deduct the storage fees for my truck but can I deduct my travel expenses for the airline tickets and Ubers to and from the airports?

    NavigatorWife and jason6541 Thank this.

It’s probably going to be looked at as a commute, and not deductible. But consult a tax professional.

I agree with @Accidental Trucker, it's commute, you don't get to deduct transportation expenses going to your job. I'm sure you can find a "professional" that will do it but it won't stand up in an audit.

Just my opinion. Read and study IRS publications, they are free and full of information.

No you can’t, it isn’t a business expense and will be disallowed in an audit.

As for moving, I would give her an ultimatum, no nyc period or See you later!

that’s just mental, the crime rate is horrible, the taxes are worst. You would be better off moving to the ghetto of Detroit than to live in nyc.
