And, in the name of "fairness", is the driver going to repay his card "points" to the employer?

If there is a 0 balance on the card I agree with you.
If there is a $10 dollar balance on the card, interest is charged from transaction date so interest is due from transaction date until paid.
You could still say that's not the owners fault but you are still doing him a favor.

''Drivers'' are in business too.[or should be].

Thanks. I was suspicious. So I decided to verify his expense without accusing him. That's why I asked this forum about going to the truck stop for the actual dollars and gallons receipt.

Good question about a fleet card. As of now, I just give my corporate credit card to drivers of they anticipate fueling up on a given day.

I am thinking now about getting into IFTA and IRP while remaining a private carrier, this way I can go to neighboring states without fuel/tax permits. It would make sense to also sign up for some kind of fuel card so as to simplify fuel tax reporting.

It might be worth mentioning for a training aspect that for immediate compensation the driver needs to have the fuel receipt printed after the pumping is finished.

When paying inside, as you have to do with a credit card, you pre-charge a certain amount and they do print a receipt. After the fueling you go back in to finalize the transaction. I've done a couple of Drive-away moves where I had to use my own card so I'm extremely aware. :p

Yep. 100 gallons is probably its capacity at 90%.
