Can you drive a truck with ADHD?

I have ADD, take an amphetamine, note from Dr saying I am ok to drive on. I renew my DOT physical every 2 years

 

Yea That is What Maverick wanted from me they have form needed to fill out for meds i take but my psychiatrist would not fill it out said it was a liability im sure because its a state funded agency so without that form even though he wrote a letter there wasnt enough information for dot doctor so I wasnt able to go with Maverick cause need that form to start orientation now i have applied with KLLM now thing is two meds i take are on there list as meds they wont accept so tryin to get them changed to acceptable ones

 

If he's not on any medications that are on the prohibited list there's no reason... Oh look squirrels... Where was I?

Thanks for this information can I find this In writing I'm trying to do research and i am currently prescribed adderall by my physician for 9 years no accidents and a very well rounded level headed female.

The use of stimulants is a explicitly called out as a "Non-disqualifying underlying condition (e.g., adult ADHD). "

Page 195 will cover the criteria for certifying someone with ADHD:

Note the "Complies with treatment program". Unless you have a doctor that says that you don't require medication, admitting to having ADHD but NOT using medication can actually cause you to fail the medical.

Untreated ADHD is far riskier than having the medication. While individual employers may differ if you are on medication and the dose is pretty stable you will be OK from a DOT medical and drug test perspective. Just make sure to go to a real, evidence based doctor for the medical and not some faith based healer like a Chiropractor who has demonstrated by their field of choice that evidence doesn't convince them.

On the drug test the ME will call you and they will contact your pharmacy to verify you have a prescription and you are good to go.

If you have ADHD you know about the stigma and the misinformation that is so common but the FMCSA isn't going to keep you from driving unless the disorder makes you unsafe on the road.

 

yes he can drive a truck and use medication if prescribed by the doctor and the medication does not impair his driving, he needs to disclose his "disabilities" on his application and if the employer wont hire him. i would seek assistance from the "ACLU" cause the "americans with disabilities act" states "The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in several areas, including employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications and access to state and local government' programs and services"

Everyone Deserves a Fair chance at employment, and if hes up for it i say do it
