Does anyone know if you have to do an X-RAY for your Canadian commercial driver's medical examination? If so, what part of your body do they do?
Also do they check for scars.

    Thanks in advance!

You dont need any X-ray for medical. It's pretty much check blood pressure and heart beat and answer NO to all questions and you are good to go. Nurse practioner can perform medical in Ontario

First off, there is no "Canadian commercial driver's medical examination" as driver's licences are issued and administered by the provinces and territories. Therefore, it would be best to indicate which province or territory you live in, so that will allow people to give you better advice. The provinces probably all follow the same format that is consistent with the CCMTA medical standard.

X-rays are not a normal part of a Class 1 medical exam in Alberta, and I doubt they are anywhere else either. However, if in the course of the exam the doctor feels it is important then they have the obligation to have them ordered, so it really depends on you.

Here is a link to the Alberta form, and I would expect there is one available online from your home province as well.

A company may require a more thorough exam than what's needed for your license. Workers comp claims can cost a company. Why the concern about x-ray?

Well I had a major operation. But not in Canada. So it wouldn't be on my health check record. If they do an x-ray? They will know about the operation and then it will be put it in my CVOR.

After that, I wouldn't be able to get a job. This operation was done a long time ago and I have no pain from it. But I've read that a lot of companies won't give people a job if they knew people had this type of operation. The operation was a serious operation but can only be detected by an x-ray.

Does your Ontario Dr know about the operation? If so, he/she may have to disclose it based on the questionnaire. My Dr asked me if I had broken any bones and I told her 30 years ago I fractured my elbow so she had to explain that I have no 'ongoing issues with it' on the form I guess I could have kept my mouth closed.
