Cant be hierd due to 9 year old criminal back ground

    So i called and spoke to a swift recruter a few days ago due to conserns about my driveing record and was informed that i could be hierd. Then i was asked about my criminal back ground so i told them about the misdomeanor petty theft charge that i had 9 years ago where i did 2 years probation and was onlybcharged with an infraction not a misdomeanor. Swift informed me that due to this i was not eligeable for higher untill the case was 10 years old.wich makes no sence to be because i spent 3 years in a tow truck towing for bowth local police and the state pd aka chp. And they did a full back ground check and had no issues with me towing the vehicle of some one involved in a police shooting. And yet i cant drive a big rig? So here is my question for you all out there is there a companie out there that dose training like swift, us express, etc for non cdl holder that will look past my infraction charge? Help please im desperate to get back to work ben unemployed for almost a year thanks for your time and help and please be safe out there

    I don't know of any OTR companies, try looking local. Go to your local DMV and get a CDL, SWIFT based on recent events is showing poor training, get someone state certified to run the CDL test on you. It will also improve chances of being hired because the company doesn't have to waste money on getting you a CDL.

    Werner? I know a guy who has somewhat of a "history" and was able to find work with them.

    Also, I'm not trying to judge and I obviously don't know the details of your year-long unemployment, but I would keep the fact that you have a Samsung GS2 to yourself while looking for employment, i.e.; remove that "sent from" signature from e-mails if you're corresponding with recruiters. Considering the cost of that phone and the monthly plan it could raise an eybrow at a potential employer. You just never know, so best to avoid giving them any reason to wonder.

    I got the phone whilebi was still working and making a deasent wage and my wife is still working full time. And in the state of crapholeafornia i have to have 70 hours behinde the wheel with a certafied instructor in orflder to obtain my cdl. And i also prefor to corespond with all potential employers by phone call not email just seams more professional to me.

    Have you personally checked your record. See what's on it. If it's not on there, don't mention it. Don't volunteer information. Send off for your criminal background. He's right Werner would hire you anyway.
