And you want to live in a truck for weeks at a time? It's not a job for a family person.

Yes I understand the lack of homelife and my family does also. This OTR job is going to be temporary (2yrs). Our combined income right now is around 31k with no insurance. We figure (or at least hope) that I can make that or more OTR. After about 2 yrs we should have ALOT of debt paid off. Then I can get a local trucking job that will bring me home every 3-5 days. Mainly this sign on w./ Werner is to get my schooling paid for and a lot of experience.

Did you find a good company to work for while in trucking?

    I found several.......
Munson was a good company and the company I started with, Andrews Van Lines was a good company.
I quit when Munson sold out to Heartless Express and I quit Andrews because I just didn't want to work that hard anymore.

The last company I worked for, Hill and Hill was the best company I've worked for. Very good people there.............

Dont waste your time messing with Werner.First and foremost after training you will be paid 26 cent or 25 cent(per diem) per mile, you do more sitting and driving around looking for an empty trailer than you do making deliveries. You'll probably avg 1300-1800 miles.but either way the decision is yours.i have 3 children and being on the road 17 days just to get 2 and a half days off and the having to argue to get them it was'nt worth it.I finally had enough after 2 months of them bs ing me around no mile/no money/no hometime screw that i took them back their truck nov 18.Oh also beware if you are going for any of the regional positions because they told me you need 4-6 months exp,no late delivs/no accidents.I know this because when i was recruitted i was told there are plenty of northeast reg positions and when i finished with a trainer they put me on otr 48 had they told me that at the orientation i would have quit right then and there..:usa2:

I will be doing national fleet. (they say that is all 48) Then after 6 months I can become a trainer which is the same pay as driving as a team except you don't split the miles, you get it all. Really sounds like the way to go unless I haven't been told something:drunken:
