I just bought a trailer with a Carrier Ultra XT reefer unit.

It starts right up and starts to cool. It runs for 3-4 minutes at low idle then dies. It displays System Check and starts right back up and runs 3-4 minutes and then dies. There are no codes displayed.

I have 2 other units for parts but I don't know where to start. I changed the fuel filter, blew out the fuel lines and changed the air filter..

    Any ideas?

@reeferwrencher may be able to help. Does it act like it’s running out of fuel or like you cut the switch off?

Fluid levels are all good. I had a commercial refrigerant repair guy (not a reefer repair) look at it yesterday. He hooked his gauges to it and said it was doing everything like it should while running. Freon was good.

When it dies it doesn't sputter or anything. It is like you turn the switch off and back on.

I was just reading the XT model only idles for 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes like all the others. Is there something when it idles up that could be shutting it off? I never actually timed how long it runs before it shuts off and restarts. It could be 5 minutes.

Did you try to run a pre trip mode?
