You better go to line 1 in case the lognazis are hiding behind your trailer!!:biggrin_2559:

Right - that's what kills me with these "chicken little" types....I don't know if it's a "one-up" scenario in a know-it-all contest... or someone is just that worked up.

Let's say on some day that a mile from your planned destination, @ driving time 10:57 (cut that close, you did!), you have your accident. But you're legal, and therefore no problem, right? Au contraire!

    1. You failed to log the 6 minutes you spent moving the truck from the fuel island to the parking spot.

    2. You falsely logged 15 minutes of your 30 minute drop and hook as 'on duty,' when, in fact, you were driving around some vast drop yard searching out your empty.

    3. You low-life steering wheel holder! Your willful and callous disregard for the HOS regulations now makes you complicit in Joe Blow's death. The fact that his driving was only slightly less efficient at ending his life than laying down in traffic is now irrelevant. Congratulations, Killer!

Now I realize the absurdity of this is lost on you (and the scumbag portion of the trial attorneys,) but I seriously doubt there is a LEO anywhere in this vast land who has questioned how a driver went from 'Off duty' to "sleeper' w/o showing 'on-duty' between.

    I'm just sayin'...

EDIT: Aw geez! While I was typing, y'all beat me to it!

I'm not one to like to do a lot for the truck or company unless I'm paid, but some things are just plain part of the job, like the marker light I mentioned. I'm not even going to waste a drop of ink, let alone even bother to open my logbook, to "log it as you do it". My logbook only has 15 minute divisions, and my hand writing is pretty bad, it looks all botched up as it is. But it is legal, and with common sense used.:biggrin_25525:

Hey Hammer, don't ya hate it when that happens?LOL

Sure, there are real world scenarios where guys get whacked because their logs were wrong...

I'd equate the odds of that to winning the lottery. And senseless fear over a minute or two here or there is just that - senseless.

Is someone REALLY going to kill a ten hour break when after 4 hours... showering, eating, playing on the computer or reading... you've been parked since 1800... and at 2200, you go inside to use the potty, finding that one of your upper markers lights on the truck is out. While inside, you buy a 194 bulb, switch it out... do you log that as ON DUTY, since you worked on yrou truck... and reuiring you to restart your 10 hour break?

Only a fool would do that... and mainly because there's no way anoyone on Earth could say whether you changed that bulb at 2200, or 1800, or whether it was changed, or even inoperative at all.

Actually, e-Logs v.3.02 with the ankle bracelet option will automatically record all that for you.

    What a relief, eh?

    There's a thought.

    Automatically logs sleeper time.

Automatically track driver leaving truck to use facilities.

Automatically track driver time on pre trip. Might be useful in obtaining the documentation to see what they did.

Automatically track what the driver does during sleeper time at the shipper/receiver.

Welcome to the future of the industry.

Time to buy stock in these things.
