Any one else experience significant downtime because of retrofitting this engine by CAT to correct the ACERT system?
UMMM, yeah...the "twin turbos" right:smt075. Not to bash anyone, but that term kinda bugs me since the ACERT is a compound turbo setup and neither one of the turbos are a like. Also a true twin turbo setup only has one pressure stage unlike the compound (ACERT) turbo setup that has 2.
I like my Acert. But the thread starter gives no info, like year model or what retrofit. Not good for the first post. But your right PT.Those bad twin turbos,no fuel mileage,in shop all the time.I've had my 06 now 18months and it has'nt seen the inside of a shop.Good mileage and very reliable. And it looks like if I have an issue it will probably be an IVA. Well big deal,643000 and still goin strong.
I have a 07 C-15 with 272,000 miles on it. No major problems. Only time it's been in the shop is for a cat re-call on an oil line. Runs great, pulls great and gets the best mpg I've seen any anything sense 04. I love it.
Found CAT's used truck engine reference guide. It is 36 pages long with all the serial numbers, power ranges, recommended service & all sorts of info. Maybe this will help Warn out...at the very least, it will help fill his email box up. PDF file at http://ohe.cat.com/cda/files/301738/7/LEDT9445-04_usedtruck.pdf
Is the 05 Cat C15 a ACERT motor ? I know it has the twin turbo. Where do I find these numbers on the engine ?
