    Hey fellow drivers!

    Here's one for the books-

I was driving down an interstate in northern Kansas when I had several police cars pass me. I didn't think anything of it since I was exiting one highway and getting onto another within miles.

After I finished the exchange, I saw a townie with his cruiser on the side of the road. So, I switched lanes to give him the required lane of room. A few miles later I saw another townie standing outside his cruiser waiving traffic away from the required lane of space.

That's when, a mile or so later, I'm watching as another townie was standing outside his cruiser on the side of the highway. Only this time he looks like he's working on something. As I get closer I can see that he threw something across the highway. By the time I realized what was happening, he's pulling a spike line across the highway just as I go past him and a white blur comes speeding past me on my left exactly as I cross the townie.

White car kept going and my front steer tire caught the spike line.

I pulled over immediately and the townie who spiked me pulls up not too long afterwards. He was actually super nice and called a tire guy to come out right away. The sergeant also pulls up a little later and another cruiser. Everyone, even I was giving the guy crap for spiking the wrong vehicle. There's no way he's living that down. Turns out he was a rookie.

The sergeant says they will pay for the new tire but they have to report it as an accident to their insurance in order to get reimbursed. I call my boss and tell him the bad news. Company ends up paying for the tire to avoid the report by police to insurance, which we assumed would find its way to a federal reporting database somehow.

    Crazy...
