The only time someone checks your VHF is during blitz week, and then only if a CRTC goon is hanging out at a scale. They have the jurisdiction, not the DOT.
I have a Kenwood, 65 watts and totally unlocked, self programmable too. I also use a high gain wide band antenna, and that adds some wattage too. I just make sure I can't send on all the other channels. But it's good to hear if there are any plows working a hill in BC, and sometimes I can listen in to the rainbows. I will warn someone when I'm talking to them, that they'll hear me long after I can't hear them. My mic has a lighted keypad, so I just turn my radio off when I go through a scale at night. Just don't need a curious DOT pulling me in.Phantom Trucker and not4hire Thank this. -

I put one in my pickup too, along with the same antenna. Gotta chatter when commuting lol.
