I have had my CDL-A for about 15yrs, but have very limited experience using it.
I did own my own Dump Truck business 4yrs ago, but closed it due to the economy and lack of construction work in this area.
I'm looking for information on companies that may be willing to hire me without having to go thru a complete Driving School Course.
Any information would be appreciated,
Thank you.
CDL-A, But no OTR Exp.

id just start calling some places. A lot of company's might tell you that you need a refresher course that includes x hrs for them to hire you. usealy a few week depending. but there are company's out there that will take you as is. you just need to find them. good luck

Why do you want to do OTR? Wouldn't you rather do local driving?

try the chicago area lots of small company there that may take a chance on you. i was out of trucking 2, year and had a hard time getting back in to it. found a small company just south of chicago put me in a truck first day and run my butt off for 6 mouths...

Any one you hauled for customers or suppliers ect:
The best companies are the ones that have both straight trucks and semi's
Just my 2 centsMicpman Thanks this. -
I don't mind doing a refresher course, I just can't see much sense of spending all that money to take a complete driving course when I all ready have my CDL. -
I'm also looking at moving to the Myrtle Beach area within the next year, so otr seemed like the most logical way to get back into trucking. -
have you tried your local city/town/state for driving jobs/..?? with dump experience you could land a nice cushy job with-in your state government..

You may have to take a refresher course and most likely ride with a trainer. If you stick to driving dump trucks you could probably avoid all that.
