Job Summary

Our OTR Drivers operate and maintain company semi-trailers, and all types of equipment included in the haul and drop process. This will include maintaining safe operating practices, trip planning, handling of Bertch product, etc. This candidate must be adept in operating the vehicle in all kinds of terrain and/or environmental conditions along a given route.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follows a certain route given to deliver Bertch product in a timely and efficient manner in which customer/dealer satisfaction is achieved.

Operates the vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner in the transportation of Bertch product according to company/legal regulations.

Coordinates with loading crew to insure product loaded is accurate and ready to go.

Performs a walk-through inspection of semi-trailer prior to and after each trip to ensure driving conditions will be safe along the route.

Checks vehicle gauges and indicators at all times for any malfunctions that may occur in the semi-trailer.
Reports any and all maintenance and/or delivery issues that may come up during a specific delivery.
Keeps the customer in mind at all times from start to finish and insuring that all needs are met by the end of each delivery.
Detailing of route information such as hours traveled, rest periods, miles covered, and fuel usage.

Must observe and comply with all traffic regulation.
Weekly Home time.
Required Education, Training or Experience

High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required.

Must obtain a Class A CDL through school/training.

6+ months of driving experience preferred, but not required.

Open to skill training to improve driving skills throughout.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Able to communicate effectively with loading crew and customers/dealers. Able to identify any repair minor faults to the vehicle or major mechanical breakdowns. Able to go through screen requirements such as drug tests, alcohol tests, background checks, DOT physical, etc. Able to perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Able to read maps and/or GPS in order to follow the route given. Willingness and ability to assist in any and all hauling/dropping procedures during the delivery process.

Yes we do! We have no problem hiring out of state, as long as you would be willing to drive to our home location in Waterloo, Iowa to pick up a load!
We currently have a driver that resides in New Jersey, so as long as you are willing to work with us, we are willing to work with you!
