Well I live in NYC and its tough to pass exam(driving) in the city, even with experience. So i got my cdl from Oregon state.
    Exam:1.Pre trip inspection(15 minutes).
    2.Backing up(90 degres).
3.Driving in the city and highway(40 minutes).
    4.Emergency parking on a curb.

I had auto so it was pretty easy. The more You practice the better!.

    Good luck.

    thanks....

I've heard about the pre-trip portion - can you bring a checklist of what to go over so you don't miss anything?

Is the back up testing done on city streets?

I dont know about list at the exam, but it shouldnt take You more than couple of days to lern PTI.Plus I think its O'K to Change in what order to do PTI.

They will not let You back up on a busy street:it might be commercial zone, parking lot. With me it was huge parking lot.The most important thing:dont try to impress anybody with the speed,do backing slow,in this case You can always change the direction Your trailer travel.Usually in driving schools they use 40 ft. trailers, day cabs 5,6 speed or auto.
