I have been doing a lot of CDL practice tests in preparation for my upcoming permit test; how accurate are they? And are there any specific topics I should be looking at over others? Also what practice tests did you all use?

They are the same for the most part.
FMSCA outlines most of the CDL questions. States pick and choose which ones to use, sometimes at random, and throws in a few state or state CDL guide ones.
Some online CDL test are have quite a few obsolete questions, that you will no longer find in current tests.Ddh77777 and hdtennessee92 Thank this. -
I used the 10 versions of each endorsement to practice at the web site TruckerCountry DOT com.
Each state test is slightly different, but they all have to cover the same material so if you are routinely passing the online tests with scores of 90% or more then you have nothing to worry about any any state's version.
The secret is to read the question AND ONLY READ THE CORRECT ANSWER, NEVER READ A WRONG ANSWER.
At TruckerCountry dot com I suggest you pick an endorsement practice test, pick the Classic Test version, read the first question, DO NOT ANSWER, submit your test for grading. This will give you an answer key for that endorsement test. Now read the question, read only the correct answer, then continue with next question. The goal is NOT to memorize the answer to how many feet does it take to stop a truck from 55 mph, and then you you pick B. DO NOT DO THAT.
Read the question and then look for the familiar answer. Only one of the 4 possible answers will be familiar. I typically print out the 10 tests on paper or save them to a file and I delete all of the wrong answers. So when I need to study all I have at the questions followed by the correct answer. Read the question and the correct answer, then next question and next correct answer. Study for 20-30 minutes and take a break. Once you have read through all versions of the endorsement test, go take the classic test again and just select the familiar answer. Then submit the test for grading. Keep doing this until you always score 90% or better. On test day on the state computer, read the question and look for the familiar answer. Mark it and move on. There's not benefit to scoring 100% so don't worry if you do or you don't. Passing with a minimum score is just as good as passing with 100%. -
Thank you! I thought some of them may not be relevant, that was my worry. I just don’t want to waste my time studying stuff that is not on the test. -
Thank you so much for this advice, I appreciate it. And you mentioning a specific test is great, thats what I was wondering! I always just read the correct answer because I know myself enough to know reading the other choices would just get it jumbled up in my brain!
i have been scoring 90% on all the practice test I have taken!tscottme Thanks this.
