I'm looking for a CDL school or a company that hire new drivers with CDL training near Norwalk, CT. UPS does hire (right near my house) But I don't have a CDL yet so I want to know which schools near here are good to start with. NETTTS is in bridgeport but mixed reviews there... I do hear that swift has a good CDL training program, but I haven't seen swift trucks near here... Any input will be appreciated! And 3k for schooling is a bit high for me right now so I would prefer a paid training company. Thanks!

Prime hires in your area. I'm scheduled to be in their orientation/training on July 21. It's a long program but thorough and very safety oriented according to my research.

I went to NETTTS and actually had a great group of instructors. They will work with you on a payment plan. If you do go there try to get John for classroom and Ron for work in the field. They are both good, no ######## kind of guys.
As for work, there are a ton of local gigs hauling asphalt or dirt for construction companies. I'm hauling asphalt for work now and making decent money, but you have to have a license and med card. There is also city work. City of Stamford just had applications available for CDL drivers and equipment operators.
