When we got the new QC we were told not to depend on it by the Safety Department.

Honestly, I don't know if I would trust it or not. QC has told me that they are planning on where the company can download routes to the GPS. I'm not crazy about that the way they will route you way out of the way to run as many trucks through the same fuel stop as they can.

Did you all see the news reports of the bus that hit an overpass yesterday? The driver is saying that his GPS told him there was adequate clearance.

Why would you trust your GPS over solid metal signs?

Arkansas Frost and PSUMoose Thank this.

Depends where you are. Case in point: Manhattan, NY. 12' 10" clearance on i95, trucks going under it all day and night. For the most part though, you'd have to be pretty thick.

That is in the far left lane, and I would not hug that shoulder very tight. There is a beam that gets close. Saw a truck hit once, before they fixed the pot hole that made him bounce.

Got my monthly chewing today about missing fuel stops. I dont like going out of my way so i pass it and request a new unless i can make it to my next one, or the best is fill up 50 miles from the 99. They must really like my attitude when i tell them give a #### fuel stop on the route and dont make me fill up before my next pick up of course i didnt do it in that tone, bunch of morons

Snow pack is not of a given thickness, so that's not it. Those are arch shaped, so like chrome dome said, I'd stay away from the shoulder. The first time I went under that I was in a pack of trucks, otherwise I'd've lost it there. I did wonder if I got enough sleep, but it seemed too subtle to be a hallucination.

Ok, I was preset for three days. Shoulda been three easy days. But of course we can't be having that. My unload at 1000 was finished at 1530. Then I had a run out of Chicago that REQUIRES a washout ticket before running 180 miles up to Appleton. Ok, finish my 8 in the sleeper at the shipper, run 35 miles (1 hr since it's a typical afternoon in Chi town) to a blue beacon, hurry to the next shipper, grab my load and run to WI. I end up getting there just before 0100 and trying to leave because my next appt is at 0900 here in town. OH, and the trailers are not where the guy pointed... Great. Now all kinds of fun dealing with a MUST be on time type of customer. Plus I get to lose sleep over it whether or not they are going to accept me being a few minutes late because I have to get up and find out!

When I was new I didn't understand people screaming at shipping or receiving clerks about not being able to get their truck loaded/unloaded and gone! Now it makes more sense. It costs us all kinds of money and aggravation to sit and wait for someone else to adhere to the appointment that they set up in the first place!
