I called rebecca at IEL which is who your truck is leased from and she told me no you can't buy the truck till after the lease term. This was the final straw for me before I left them holding it!

I drove for central refrigerated for a year and it was an absolute nightmare. My opinion..... Worst company out there. After I left they had the nerve to send me an email asking me to come back...lol. NEVER. The only thing good about Central refrigerated is the terminal in Salt Lake City, many showers, a basketball court, a pool table..... other than that they really dragged me in the mud. O and the have jail rooms at the terminal.

I wanna go to salt lake. Haven't been there in a year. Heard it's a lot different now as far as atmosphere in building one.

Sorry to hear your experience was negative. Central was a good fit for me with minimal headaches. It wasn't until Swift took over that I started heavy dosing of Tylenol. I used to highly recommend Central as a starter company. Now I just don't recommend any company at all.
Lady K and jomar68 Thank this.

Hey guys was curious, are there any lease ops on the forum if so how are you doing after the change over compared to before the change over in febuary? I am having to run real hard with swift holding the reins and i hardly see any long mile trips anymore. Not to mention the fact that I get alot of double dispatched loads on top of the shipper or the customer that i pick up or deliver too taking 6 to 8 hours to unload 8 pallets or less. Seriously why the h### do i need to wait for them to unpack and store everything. I wish the fmcsa would regulate shippers and receivers of freight. Sorry for the rant guys but I had to get that off my chest.

For us, it really hasn't effected us except for the attitudes. Central office people know their days are numbered and just don't care. A lot of Swift office people treat us like we are the ####### step children. Some of the Swift people are ok.... Biggest problem we have is payroll...

One net thing you might do, is if you are only dropping a few pallets, lump the load your self. At least then you will get paid a little something while your waiting.
When we were delivering baked goods to Walmart DC's we would lump our own loads. It would take us an hour and a half, get paid $45 and still be out of there in 2 to 3 hours... But at least we got paid for some of it.

And I agree... FMCSA should regulate those docks.... But the talking heads say they can't because they don't have jurisdiction. But they don't understand that those docks effect safety on the roadways just as much as if not more than us drivers do.

I'm a LO, but I'm not a good person to ask. I started training just after the switch. But, things have been going fairly well, especially since freight has been slow lately.

As far ax detention goes, I'd love 6-8 hours of detention. Its pure profit. The short runs I can do without though. I would be letting my DM know that you need a run with longer miles and don't take no for an answer. It sounds like you did your time on the short run circuit. Someone else can take over.
    Lady K Thanks this.
  11. We are Coors Ded. So no, not much change. Thank God for a good DM.
Some of the macros and especially the 90 day DOT type inspection are a pain, but all things considered I think we are lucky.
heard horror stories though, don't think we would be as laid back about some of this if we had half the crap some of you are dealing with. Good luck.
    Lady K Thanks this.
