You need $60 dollars which covers the "registration fee" as well as money to cover food expenses for 3 weeks. The registration fee covers all of the tests, permit, CDL, ect. By reading this thread, it looks like the registration fee used to be higher, but as of today it is $60.
The training lasts 3 weeks. For me, someone who will be starting in Conley, you spend a little under a week in Conley and then all of those who pass all of the pre-hire criteria will bus to SLC for the remainder.
After the training, you're on with a trainer and that is when a flat pay of $450 a week begins. You get your first payment on your first day on the truck with the trainer. By reading this thread, it looks like this pay used to escalate to $500 per week, but as of today it is a flat $450 throughout all of training.
By the way, if there are any CR trainers reading this thread who would like a student who listens, cares, is excited about joining this industry and needs a trainer around the beginning of September, shoot me a PM. -
What's the caveat with supper? Do they serve it at the terminal? -

Also set "RULES FOR THE TRUCK"
central already doesn't allow students to use cell phones while driving.
I took that one step further when I was a trainer.
Turned off or on mute in the bunk while student is driving, because I didn't want to hear the thing ringing 50 times a day, as even if it's in the bunk if the ringer is on it's still a distraction.
Also just as you would let them know when they are screwing up, let them know they are doing good.
Before a back, have them talk you through it, how are they going to set up, and the like, and if there is time have them watch other trucks backing to learn what they are doing
good luck -
woo hoo, just been accepted to start classes on the 8th. Trucking is something i have always had a desire to do!! However with my background i have had to wait many years to once again get a opportunity. I have looked into multiple companies and must say Central Refrigerated has the best schooling options, as far as i can see from my research. I have read many post on Central and must say i have heard most the good and bad. for the most part mainly good! My biggest concern in looking at this option, was getting there and having them turn me down due to my background. For all of those who may have concerns in this matter i urge you to just be upfront with your recruiter!! I resigned from a high paying job i have had for over 3yrs to take this dream on. I can honestly say my experience i have had with my recruiter and also the security officer has been very pleasant!! My recruiter has went above and beyond what i would have expected to make this happen!! I have never had any issues with contacting them or keeping in touch. I look forward to starting on monday
