My wife and I watched a few videos showing over 30 private helicopters volunteering to deliver goods to stranded people in NC and TN. After a while she looked at me and said we could deliver a load or two if there are supplies that need to get down there,

I did call one specific charity however is there an organization that coordinates willing truckers with aid?

    Thanks

I just reread this post and want to clarify. we would volunteer our time, truck and fuel to get aid across the states so the helicopters can deliver it.

You might contact Franklin Graham's organization, "Samaritan's Purse". They are very good at organizing volunteer efforts to rebuild and help out in disaster areas. Unfortunately, they are also headquartered in Boone, NC, and that area got hit pretty hard so it may be a bit difficult getting in touch with them. Should you end up making contact with them, if they can't use your services, I bet they know other organizations who could use your help.

A good friend of mine flys helicopter for a corporate owner. I was talking to him yesterday, told me he's got a friend that's flying his own helicopter up there. I'll call him later today and see if he could find out something for you.

Well, well, who needs the truckers help now, eh? I'm sorry, I'm not that negative, not sure what truckers could do anyway. What's needed is dump trucks and a zillion backhoes. I'd volunteer, but I think the enormity of the situation would get to me, plus it's 2,000 miles away. Donate "Time, truck, and fuel", sorry, that will cost a lot, and let the National Guard help out, what are they doing these days? Heck, they're getting paid to do that, no?

Get them to sign off that you donated your time (basically what your freight rate was) and it’s a tax deduction. Fuel is already a deduction. Being charitable is a decent way to lower your taxable income a little bit.

Seems I'm not much help , my friend texted the person he knows thats flying up there and he was contacted by another pilot about doing it. He did say that yesterday it was mostly donated goods and today the guard is bringing in lots of stuff. Its a very selfless and honorable thing y'all are offering to do I wish I could be more help. My friend said he's going to keep asking around. His boss donates a lot to these type things but prefers no one knows, its possible he would know. My friend is going to ask him .
