At the east bound San Jon NM scales, there was half of a brake drum hanging on the concrete barrier between the scales and the building for years. If broke and fell off the truck, right there when he stopped on the scales. Good chance something like that happened to this, it would be hard to forget to put it on. I did however see them shut one down for not having any shoes on it, the mechanic came out to fix it, but the spider was bent, so he just signed it off as if he had put shoes on it and the truck left.
Later the same day he was pulled in at Nara Visa and checked, busted again and that time so was the mechanic. lol
CHP is in the right on this....

So my question is how a tow can cause a missing drum. -
If you zoom in you can see that part of the drum is still there. It probably over heated and came apart like others have said.
I doubt a mechanic left it off unless he did it on purpose.Linte_Loco and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -

There isn't even any brake dust on those shoes. Heck it doesn't even look like they have touched a drum yet.p608 Thanks this. -

There IS NO DRUM.
it isn't a case where itnover heated and fell apart, that would mean the tire would have overheated and exploded.
It is a case where someone took it off and didn't replace it.
Op, you have a link?
I can't find it on the chp fb page at all.
