I currently have class B took my test in a standard tramission truck so if I try and take my class A road test can it be in a auto or does it have to be standard also?

  3. Depending on the state you are testing in. Some will only lic. you in an auto. if taken test in auto. if standard then covers both transmission types. check with your DMV locations.

If you don't want a "Automatic Only" restriction on your Class A license you will need to take the road test in a manual semi truck.

You need to show that you are proficient in driving a tractor trailer equipped with a manual transmission.
